How to Launch a Spot-Acne Salon Skincare Brand in Southeast Asia

8 min read · updated Oct 2026 · by YANXI market team

Southeast Asia's humid climate and high salon culture make it one of the most receptive markets for professional acne and brightening programs. But the brands that win are not the ones with the most SKUs - they are the ones with a tight, protocol-driven launch. Here is the sequence we recommend after supporting chain launches across the region.

1. Start with 3 SKUs, not 30

The winning entry set mirrors what our own chain stores use daily: one professional backbar product, one retail home-care product, one hero hero-SKU for marketing. This keeps your MOQ low (often under $8,000 for a full test batch), simplifies compliance, and lets your therapists master a protocol instead of memorizing a catalog.

2. Choose actives for the climate

3. Design the protocol before the packaging

Your service protocol - how many sessions, what sequence, what home-care bridge - determines the packaging formats (backbar vs. retail), which determines cost. Brands that reverse this order almost always re-order packaging within 6 months.

4. Compliance and certification early

Most SEA markets require notification/registration with local labels (Indonesia BPOM, Vietnam CPNP-equivalent, Thailand FDA). Ask your manufacturer for a compliance documentation pack before sampling - if they hesitate, that is your answer. Our certification pack covers this for all major SEA destinations.

5. Train like a chain, not a trader

Retention - not first purchase - decides profitability. Budget for staff training: treatment scripts, consultation forms, home-care recommendation scripts. This is why we ship protocols and training with every program, not just products.

Cosmetic Compliance Checklist for Importing Skincare to the Middle-East

6 min read · updated Oct 2026 · by YANXI compliance team

Gulf markets (GCC) are among the most profitable for professional skincare - and among the most documentation-sensitive. Use this checklist before your first shipment to avoid port delays.

Product-level documents

  1. Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) - issued in China, confirming the products are freely sold domestically.
  2. Halal compatibility statement - not mandatory in all GCC states, but frequently requested by distributors and pharmacies.
  3. Full ingredient list (INCI) with percentages for restricted categories - alcohol content and certain whitening actives get extra scrutiny.
  4. Batch COA - microbiology and heavy metals per batch, matching the shipped lot numbers.
  5. MSDS - GHS-format, required by carriers and customs brokers.
  6. Arabic labeling - most GCC states require Arabic on retail packaging (can be a sticker over the primary label for first shipments, but confirm per market).
